1921President of Dominick & Haff
1932Vice President of Gorham
1 April 1935Vice President for Sales, Gorham
1 June 1945zgave up sales because of ill health
'Mr. McChesney would perhaps prefer to be classified simply as 'Travelling Salesman'. Since 1897 when he opened his traveling career with a $220.00 sale in Erie, Penna., he has visited, on numberless occasions, practically every major city in the United States and other hundreds of smaller cities and towns.

'In 1893, only two months after joining Dominick and Haff, the New Jersey silversmiths, he marched in the great 'Anti-Bryan Sound Money Parade'. The literal torch has been replaced with a figurative one which he has carried in every movement affecting the industry since that time. In 1921 Mr. McChesney was elected President of Dominick & Haff, thus culminating hisadvancement through the executive positions of Secretary, Vice President, Sales Manager, and Treasurer. The controlling interest of this firm was sold to Reed & Barton in, 1928.

'When Mr. McChesney came to The Gorham Company as Vice President in 1931 he was already the leading salesman of our industry. No one in the industry, then, or now, could match his sales experience and particular talents. His friendships are legion. His reputation among the trade as a student of all affairs relating to the industry and his talents as an organizer have contributed substantially to the progress of the Company in these intervening years.

'In 1935 he became Vice President and Director of the Company and assumed direction of Sales. Ten years later he asked to be relieved from the last responsibility in order to devote himself to the larger over-all study of economic trends as they may affect the industry in general, and our Company in particular. It is this task which occupies him today.' -- Who's Who Among The Executives. William F. McChesney, Vice President; mimeographed typescript sheet.
